Sarsfields Underage Presentation Night

Sarsfields held their underage presentation night on Friday night. With the club having had a successful year at all levels, a large crowd of young players and their parents had come along. It was very pleasing to see a very good attendance of senior players and management at the annual awards night.

Club chairman Paddy O’Hagan welcomed everyone to the presentation night. He commented on the success of the underage teams this season. “This had been a superb year for Sarsfields at senior and underage level, the U12 team won the supplementary league, the U16’s won the North Armagh league and the Headley Cup and the minors won the Michael Tighe memorial sevens tournament. Above all; every team, their coaches and helpers were a credit to the club.”

The youth development officer Sean McAlinden was given a special mention for his work at promoting underage football. In particular Sean along with Kieran Robinson and Brian Magee put a lot of work into this year’s very successful summer camp. Tribute also was paid to the very wide range of people that contributed to the success of the summer camp.

Paddy O’ Hagan particularly welcomed Sarsfields manager Kieran McGurk his senior team to the presentation night stating “It is very fitting that Sarsfields men carry out the underage presentations this year following the success of the senior and B teams”.

The awards were given out by senior manager Kieran McGurk, Player of the year Mark Reynolds, senior captain Paul Magee and Armagh U21 player Paul McGaughey. Many of those attending were delighted to see Sarsfields men giving out the awards and undoubtedly Mark Reynolds would have inspired many young players during the season having had his best ever year in a Sarsfields shirt. After the awards Kieran McGurk praised all the club officials for their hard work. He said that the facilities and maintenance around the club was second to none and that the club had never looked better and that he was very proud to hear the praise of visiting teams and supporters.
